Thank you, Asheville! See you next time!

On Friday, Lee and I took a much needed extended weekend away from home to relax and ignore anything pressing that lingered in Nashville. After a month straight of hosting, project deadlines and one or the other of us being ill, it was so great to get away on a little retreat. We found a great little cottage on the outskirts of Asheville, NC that fit my requirement of having a king size bed to sleep both of us AND my mountain of pillows as well as Lee's requirement of having a hot tub to soak in. The place we stayed exceeded our expectations and the city of Asheville is one that we will definitely be visiting again. We loved the local vibe and laid back culture. I don't think we've ever tasted better coffee or food all in one place!

Here are a few pictures we captured along the way.

One afternoon we took a leisurely drive on the Blueridge Parkway. We missed peak season for fall leaves changing color by a few weeks, but it was still amazingly beautiful!

We took a short hiking trail up to the top of a peak with a 360 degree overlook. I told Lee, next time we go on a hike, he gets to carry Gabriel :)

(You may not notice on first glance, but I look different in this picture because I just summitted a MOUNTAIN! Haha!)

After our hike, we refueled with lunch and afterwards a little visit to what quickly became one of our favorite stops.. the French Broad Chocolate Lounge. This photo shows the remains of Lee's flourless chocolate cake with local berries and cream and vanilla latte.

My first experience with Indian cuisine at Chai Pani was AMAZING! I'm glad I was able to experience it here. Lee's been all over the globe, including India, and said this is one of the best and authentic Indian restaurants he's ever been to.

A pots de creme and latte at the chocolate lounge. There's also a mint chocolate brownie that didn't make it in the shot. Sorry mint chocolate brownie.. you were tasty though!

On our way out of town on Tuesday, we stopped at a local roaster called BeanWerks for one last treat. OH. MY. WORD. It was easily the best pumpkin spice latte I've ever had and Lee said the same about his drink. This was the first time I've ever seen coffee beans being roasted, so it was really cool to watch as the barista was creating our delectable treat.
