I had my first real "get out of my way or I'm going to kick you in the face" craving today. I was out running a bunch of errands and the last one was buying laundry stain remover at Kroger. I knew I was getting snacky because it was 3 hours after eating lunch and I usually stick to 2-3 hours between snacks or meals. It's how I roll. I walked out into the parking lot intending to go home and the glorious scent of crispy chik-fil-a chicken wafted over. DANG IT!!!! I can't remember the last time I ate fast food. I think it was actually chick-fil-a about a year ago. I tried to bargain with myself that I'd be home in less than FIVE minutes and could have chips and salsa, or cheese and pretzels, or peanut butter and apple.. whatever I wanted. Less than FIVE minutes. The smell wasn't in the parking lot anymore.. but I was too far gone to forget it. I drove across the street STILL trying to talk myself out of it and into a healthy alternative. No go. Pulled up to the menu and wanted to get a huge sandwich, fries, shake, everything. Then I noticed that the kids meal has a one strip option.. PERFECT SIZE! Get rid of craving.. without guilt. I ordered and switched out the toy for ice dream at the window :) It was all I could do to not stick my head in the bag during the 3 minute drive home. I did however dominate the top of the ice dream as you can see in the picture. That was just about the strangest out of body food experience I've ever had! That'll teach me to leave home without sunflower seeds again. But then again.. what fun is being pregnant if you don't give into a craving or twenty along the way?
While driving around, I found an amazing little store up north called Hendersonville Produce. They carry all local produce, meat, eggs, milk and other products. I've lived up here for a year and a half and had NO idea it existed! All this time I've been lamenting about the fact that there's no local, organic produce up here and have been missing my old Nashville food shopping places and routine. Problem solved!
In other news.. I bought bigger underwear today. The end.

Ha! I can identify with this exact craving...but I'll also admit I didn't stick to one chicken strip, I ate a 12-count nugget box without shame. So I hope that makes you feel better :) And the bigger underwear...girl, I hear you. I still wear a few old ones but they are hanging on by a thread, I tell you. So are you going to find out what you're having at 20 weeks, or no?
Ha! I love this post! I will tell ya...I thought I was a super "healthy alternative" mama this last pregnancy until one day I knew I would die unless I had a sausage/egg/cheese biscuit from Burger King. That one day turned into almost every day from then on. I think I will be paying for that craving for at least a year! :) But it was soooo worth it.
Christine - Yes! We have our ultrasound scheduled for July 12.. so technically 21 weeks.. initially I wanted to wait until after all our work projects slowed down.. but now I'm wishing we'd have made the appt. earlier! We're both getting antsy to find out!
Thanks girls for backing me up on the fast food.. hahaha.. I have a feeling it won't be my last :)
I've been craving the chick in a major way. too bad it's a 30 minute drive away! Ugh! I think I'm going to reward myself with a kids meal after taking my drivers test later this month. I mean, what state makes you take the drivers test AGAIN years after turning 16??!! Cali, that's where.
