...Boomama's Christmas tour of homes!

BooMamaChristmasTour

Hello and welcome to BooMama's Christmas tour of homes! I'm a day behind.. but if you read my last post.. that's nothing new for me lately :) Actually.. today is going to be more like a tour of trees. Lee and I just moved a few weeks ago from a one bedroom apartment in the city to a house in the burbs and have very little in terms of Christmas decorations. That'll change next year.. can you say "after Christmas sale" next week??? Oh lordy.. I'm going to need to pack light for traveling to the in-laws so we can fit all my fun Christmas purchases to deck the halls with next year :)

Here's a picture of our tree.

I bought this tree six years ago on clearance after Christmas an "I am single woman hear me roar and buy myself a Christmas tree" shopping trip. It's been good to me (and now for the first year.. my husband too. FYI.. last year it didn't make it in the 10x10 living room we had.. but you'll see a pic of the first year married tree later). Amidst the moving I lost the tree topper and the tree skirt. I got the star for $5 at World Market and the skirt is bunched up curtains that were in our apartment living room.. had to get creative until after Christmas clearance!

One fun fact.. my long time family friend Diana started buying me the set of Nostalgic Houses ornaments and I proudly display each one since 1984 on these branches. Now I have to say.. as a little kid I did NOT like getting ornaments for Christmas.. I'd much rather have toys and didn't pay much attention to the gift every year. But lucky for me Diana knew what was best! I LOVE my ornaments! Here's a pic of the very first one she gave me.

No town is complete without churches..

And a movie theater..

Definitely a school..
And a firetruck..

How about a gas station?

Oooo.. fishing tackle store.. that's a necessity too..

When I decided to do the theme of houses, churches, other "small town" ornaments it was a no-brainer that Santa needed to grace the presence of my small little tree town. Not only did ONE Santa come to town.. but MANY gathered from all over the world! Here are a few of my favorite Santa's From Around the World Hallmark collection (with a couple others sprinkled in). I love the Santa's from around the world because they all have their own intricate hand done details. Most are details are either hand painted, hand knitted or hand-carved.

And this year.. a few VERY special ornaments joined the tree town. These two ornaments were handmade by Lee's uncle Van who passed away a few year ago. These will ALWAYS have a premier spot.

Here's a shot of a very special Christmas tree. This was my first ever gift from Lee! When he worked at CCM and I was working at Lifeway he had this couriered over to my desk one day. I was walking on clouds for at least 2 weeks. It was September and I was beginning to plan our department Christmas party.. Lee thought I needed a little inspiration :) The tree stayed on my desk until I packed up my pencils and moved to Kansas City a few years later. This tiny tree holds a special place in my heart :)

The next two trees have a little bit of a funny story too. Last year we had a TINY place at Christmas and I knew my tree wouldn't fit in it (sad). So I bought what I thought was a pre-lit 2 foot tree. Turns out the box actually said two one-foot trees. A teeny tiny tree for a teeny tiny living room. The decorated one is the tree we had set up for our first as a married couple. The other one is the second one in the box. This is it's first year out and I don't really buy Christmas decorations until they're on super clearance after Christmas.. so it'll be decorated in all it's glory for next year. This year.. Frosty found a home under it.

Here's our mantel. It has some Christmas cards we've gotten this year as well as my favorite nativity set (also Hallmark) that was a gift from my parents one year. And the stockings are held up by none other than Gaff tape. HA! Well.. we didn't have a fireplace last year so what's a girl to do for last minute stocking holders?

Thanks for stopping by the Tour of my trees!!! Next year will be more exciting now that we have a house I can go crazy with :)

The best idea is the make do tree skirt. It looks lovely.
Take your time collecting as if it were all finished, you would have nothing to look forward to.
best wishes for a happy holiday
